Grand Garage

When we first took our Beetle to Grand Garage, the problem recurred a week later after a $460 repair. Initially irritated, I called the owner who asked me to bring the car in at my earliest convenience, and worked with me until the problem was resolved. The replacement fuel pump, which seems unrelated to the ECU, was causing spurious faults, probably via the fuel gauge sending unit. The fuel guage is still quite inaccurate, but the car is fine other than that. If you have a VW and are looking for service in Escondido, go to Kotter's VW. But Grand Garage is an honest, well-run shop.

We have been taking our vehicle to Grand Garage for years after trying several other local shops. They are not always the cheapest repair place, but they are honest, do good work, and most important, stand behind their work. Recently a part failed they installed over 2 yrs ago - way beyond the part's warranty - and GG replaced it at half cost.

We've been bringing our vehicles to GG for some years, because:- they are honest - won't sell you services you don't need- their prices are good (not the cheapest, but they offer discounts)- they do good work- they stand behind their work, even replacing items that fail after the mfgr's warranty expires

Strictly Subarus in San Marcos helped me in a situation where another mechanic had damaged my car. Their straight forward explanation and help were crucial in getting my car back to running right. They readily answer questions and will show anything you need to see. A welcome change from the bad experience I had with the other mechanic. My older model Subaru needs care and attention and these guys were the team to get the job done. If you are a Subaru owner, I highly recommend them.

My car blew a Head Gasket on Monday. I freaked and drove it to my normal mechanic since I was actually already in the area. He took a quick look and quoted me $1,700. Ouch! I had no clue if this was a normal price, or if I was going to be the next victim of the Auto Repair Industry. I told them not to start working on the car and quickly remembered that I knew the owner of Grand Garage in Escondido from a marketing group I belong to. David took the time to take my call and was able to answer all of my questions. He even did a quick exercise with me to see if I would be better off just selling the car and not fix it. What mechanic would try to convince me NOT to fix a car??!? A very honest one. David runs an amazing operation. I did end up buying a new car today, but I think David just scored a new customer.
